DSWD eyes 200,000 drivers in waitlisted SAP beneficiaries

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) aims to include over 200,000 drivers among the waitlisted beneficiaries who will receive cash assistance under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

According to DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista, the department understands the compassion of President Rodrigo R. Duterte for the drivers affected by the community quarantine. To be included in the waitlist are those who are not in the list of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and will be directed to the field offices.

Sec. Bautista pointed out that some drivers have not received assistance since they are already part of the 4Ps. 24,000 public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and more than 1,000 taxi drivers are included in the 4Ps.

To date, 84,000 drivers have received aid from the department. – Report from Karen Villanda
