As the chief agency in charge of providing social services and aiding in disaster response, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) maintains a proactive approach in addressing the needs of the citizenry.

This is reflected in the results of Pulse Asia’s Ulat ng Bayan survey conducted between Sept. 27-30 among 1,200 respondents in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and the National Capital Region.

In the polls, the agency ranked among three government institutions with the highest approval rating—equivalent to 71% of the survey participants expressing satisfaction with DSWD’s performance.

DSWD Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Irene Dumlao hailed the public’s trust in the agency, which honors the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices of the agency’s personnel in delivering public services.

ASec. Dumlao said in a statement, “Ang mataas na tiwala ng publiko ay hindi lamang para sa DSWD, kundi para sa bawat development at social workers ng Kagawaran, ang aming ‘Angels in Red Vests’, na araw-araw ay nagpupursige para maihatid ang mga serbisyo at programa ng DSWD.”

The same Pulse Asia survey also reported that DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian received the highest approval rating among all performance-rated Cabinet members, with 61% of the public approving of his work.

Other agencies that topped the survey were the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Health (DOH), posting 82% and 80% approval ratings, respectively.
