The national government will be supervising the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the distribution of the Social Amelioration package to the public.
Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles has stated that the DSWD will be in charge of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in processing the Social Amelioration Program.
The LGUs will distribute the Social Amelioration Card to their respective areas through a “house-to-house” visit.
There are two forms to fill out, one is for the beneficiary while the other one is for the LGU.
The DSWD reminds potential recipients to make sure that the information on the card is correct and complete.
The card will serve as a validation tool to know who is in need of more aid. It can also serve as a family assistance record where the aid given by the government will be written.
The cash assistance will vary depending on the minimum wage rate of a region. The beneficiary can receive PhP 5,000 to PhP 8,000.
According to DSWD Sec. Rolando Bautista, the process to validate and distribute the cash aid will take a minimum of three days.
Meanwhile, the distribution of food packs in the NCR is ongoing. The latest data of the agency shows that more than 80,000 relief goods have been distributed so far. – Report from Sandra Samala
