DSWD: Php 82B worth of aid distributed

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) disclosed that it has already distributed more than Php 82 billion worth of assistance amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

DSWD USec. Rene Glen Paje explained during the Laging Handa Public Briefing that the amount covers the beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the government.

Paje reported that around 400,000 beneficiaries of the second tranche of SAP are yet to receive the financial aid.

“Nais po nating i-assure, siguraduhin na ang mga kababayan natin na hindi pa nakatanggap, ‘yung mga eligible beneficiaries ay makakatanggap ng 2nd tranche (We assure eligible beneficiaries who have not yet received the aid, that they will be granted assistance under the second tranche),” Paje guaranteed.

“’Yun lamang ay inaayos natin, sinisigurado natin ang validation, maiwasan ‘yung mga duplicates (We are just reconciling [records] to be sure about the validation to prevent duplicates),” he added.

The DSWD emphasized that other programs of the department will continue to be implemented to help those in need and the vulnerable sectors. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
