DSWD prepositions 500 family food packs in Antique

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Antique has prepositioned 500 family food packs for those who would be affected by Typhoon ‘Ompong’.

Melrose Amaran, head of the DSWD provincial office here, on Friday said the food packs are ready to be distributed if there would be calamity. “We have 500 family food packs prepositioned,” Amaran said.

She said as of Friday, they had been placed on a “Blue Alert” status and ready to respond, with the expected landfall of the typhoon tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Noemi Tagle of the Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office said they are now maintaining a skeletal force together with the Provincial Engineering Office.

This is pursuant to Executive Order 141 issued by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao in September 14.

“We are going to have skeletal force until Sunday,” Tagle said.

She said that the skeletal force will also be reporting from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
