SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The PHP2.9-million Shared Service Facility (SSF) equipment and Toll Packaging Center intended for this capital town underwent a test run on Wednesday.

Glen Fernando, DTI Antique Trade and Industry Development Specialist, said in an interview Thursday that the SSF and Toll Packaging Center stands to benefit food processors at the Dalipe Tradetown here.

“Food processors are the target beneficiaries of the SSF and Toll Packaging Center,” he said.

With the facility, food processors could now bake more tarts and other food delicacies. Fruit vendors could still make money out of their unsold fresh fruits by making it into juices.

“Some of the equipment that were tested are juicer, steamer, extractor machine, pressure cooker and oven,” he said.

He said that the delivery of the equipment by the supplier, which Fernando did not name, is not yet complete.

“The SSF is a grant from the DTI with the LGU of San Jose as cooperator which means it will be the one to manage the facility,” he said.

A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was inked earlier between the DTI and the local government of San Jose de Buenavista for the operation of the SSF and Toll Packaging Center.

“The LGU is also allowed to charge minimal fee for the use of the facility from the food processors,” he said.

He added that hopefully the SSF and Toll Packaging Center could already go into full operation by March when all the other equipment had been delivered by the supplier.

The test run was jointly administered by DTI Antique provincial office and the Municipal Economic Enterprise and Development Office (MEEDO) of San Jose.
