DTI: Indoor, outdoor establishment capacity to increase under lower alert levels

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez on Sunday (Sept. 26) said it will be allowing 30% capacity in indoor establishments and 100% for outdoor once the National Capital Region (NCR) is placed under a lower alert level.

“The customers sa outdoor, kahit indoor, na vaccinated, sa level 4 lang iyan. Kapag nag-level 3 na, wala nang mga ganyang [restriction], open to all na. Ang pinag-uusapan na lang, operating capacity,” Lopez said in a radio interview.

He added that minors and senior citizens will also be allowed depending on the health standards and protocols implemented by their respective local government units (LGUs).

The Trade Secretary also said they are proposing to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to reopen gyms at 10% capacity.

“Iyong susunod po nating ipapa-allow, dahil sa prinsipyo ng exercise, ay iyong gym. Pinag-iisapan iyan. ‘Yung exercise kasi nakakataas ng immunity,” Lopez said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) earlier said further assessment on the alert level system being implemented in the NCR is needed.

“We have just finished one week of implementation of this pilot, kailangan pa natin ng mas maraming panahon, katulad nitong linggong darating, kung sadya talagang itong pagbaba ng mga kaso ay ma-a-attribute na natin kung effective ang ating response,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a Laging Handa public briefing on Saturday (Sept. 25).

From Sept. 16 until Sept. 30, Metro Manila is placed under Alert Level 4, which only allows indoor establishments such as restaurants and salons to operate at a limited capacity. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla / CF – bny
