DTI launches Project One

MANILA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that it is in the process of developing an online portal that will provide information about doing business in cities and municipalities around the country.

During the 6th Regional Competitiveness Summit in Pasay City Thursday, DTI launched the Project One that aims to promote ease of doing business in the country by providing information such as the complete list of requirements and the process of doing business with local government units (LGUs).

DTI Undersecretary Nora Terrado said the Project One will likewise increase transparency among LGUs.

It was noted that the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018 or the EODB law requires all LGUs to clearly state the processes and requirements for business registration in their respective areas.

Terrado said the Project One can be the platform for acquiring business-relevant information, which is essential to all prospective investors.

In a press conference, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the agency seeks to expand the functions of Project One to include on-line business registration, which can easily be accomplished by way of mobile devices through the introduction of the necessary apps,

“On the DTI’s part, we see GovTech or government technology as an innovative solution to eliminate red tape in the bureaucracy… There’s really a need to drastically streamline the procedures and work on automating that improvement,” said Lopez.

“We are mindful of President [Rodrigo] Duterte’s call for all government agencies to fulfill the EODB law. More importantly we hope to see LGUs reinventing the way government services are rendered at the LGU level,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the government targets the release of the implementing rules and regulations on the EODB law by October 22.
