The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) opposed the recommendation to prohibit the entry of unvaccinated individuals in malls.
DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said it is a discrimination especially that not all Filipinos have received a jab against COVID-19. She emphasized that the government avoids the discrimination against the vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.
Castelo said it is better to wait for the vaccination of the majority of Filipinos than to implement the prohibition of the unvaccinated individuals’ entry in malls.
Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion initially pushed for establishments to only allow the entry of vaccinated individuals to ensure that the COVID-19 Delta variant will not further spread in the country.
