DTI pushes for price freeze due to COVID-19

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has insisted on a price freeze implementation on basic goods amid the state of public health emergency in the country.

The DTI said prices of goods such as rice, sardines, coffee, and essential medicines declared by the health department must remain until June this year.

The DTI also warned it will punish abusive business owners taking advantage of the situation.

“The country right now is in a state of emergency, so people cannot take advantage. Business cannot take advantage of the general situation of the consumer, ” DTI USec. Ruth Castelo said. – Report from Cleizl Pardilla
