MANILA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) wanted to introduce amendments to trade remedy laws, DTI Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo told reporters Wednesday.
Rodolfo said the department wanted processes under trade remedy laws to be simpler, transparent, and efficient by eliminating redundant procedures.
Making the processes easier would help industries seek remedial actions on unfair trade practices that caused injuries to their sectors.
“We need to revise our trade remedy laws,” Rodolfo said in Filipino.
These trade remedy measures include anti-dumping measures, subsidies and countervailing measures, and safeguard measures.
He added that the DTI drafted amendments to trade remedy laws.
The department was also eyeing to tap Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and Representative Joey Salceda to push for the amendments on trade remedy laws in Congress. (PNA)
