Duterte declares May 14 special non-working day

MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed on Wednesday a proclamation declaring May 14 as a special non-working day throughout the country to allow the people to vote in the barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) polls.

“Monday, 14 May 2018, should be declared a special (non-working) day to enable the people to fully exercise their right of suffrage,” Proclamation No. 479 stated.

Republic Act No. 10952 postponed the synchronized barangay and SK elections from Oct.23, 2017 to May 14 this year. (PNA)
