Duterte gets 88% approval rating

MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte remained the most approved and most trusted government official in the country, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey released Friday.

The survey conducted on June 15-21 showed Duterte with the highest approval rating of 88 percent and trust rating of 87 percent, respectively.

This is higher than the results of the March 2018 survey, which found his trust and approval ratings at 78 percent and 80 percent, respectively.

While Duterte got a dominant trust score, Vice President Leni Robredo only recorded 56 percent of the same.

Robredo scored an approval rating of 62 percent, which is a 7-percentage point increase from her 55-percent rating in March.

Duterte’s disapproval rating was set at only 3 percent, while Robredo obtained a 14 percent score.

Former Senate president, Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, obtained an approval rating of 72 percent and a trust rating of 64 percent. Meanwhile, House of Representatives Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez got an approval rating of 47 percent and a trust rating of 45 percent.

National issues in the weeks leading up to the survey period included the ouster of then Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, the start of the regional consultation on the draft Federal Charter, the enactment of the Mental Health Law, the arrest of more than 7,000 loiterers, and the third reading approval of the Bangsamoro Basic Law on both chambers of Congress. (Filane Mikee Cervantes/PNA)
