Duterte to spend Holy Week, birthday in Davao

MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte will spend the Holy Week break and his birthday in his hometown, Davao City, his spokesperson said Thursday.

“He will be in Davao. Nasa Davao lang po ang ating Presidente pagdating ng Semana Santa (Our President will just be in Davao during the Holy Week),” Roque said in a Palace briefing.

This year, Holy Week will be observed from March 25, Palm Sunday, until April 1, Easter Sunday.

Last year, Duterte visited three Middle Eastern countries during the Holy Week to meet with state leaders and the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) there.

The three countries Duterte visited were Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.

Roque said the President would also celebrate his birthday in Davao City. Duterte will be turning 73 on March 28.

“Iyong birthday ng Presidente, ang ginagawa lang talaga niya sa birthday niya ay nagkukulong sa bahay (On the President’s birthday, what he does is that he just stays at home),” Roque said.

“Pero baka po magkaroon ng pagdiriwang matapos po talaga ang araw ng kaniyang birthday (But there might be a celebration the day after his birthday),” he added. (PNA)
