Duterte visits mom’s grave on her 7th death anniversary

MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Monday night visited the Davao Public and Roman Catholic Cemetery to commemorate the seventh death anniversary of his mother, Soledad.

Photos from his top aide and former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go, showed Duterte lighting candles in front of his mother’s grave at 11:30 p.m.

Soledad, who died on Feb. 4, 2012, was a teacher in Davao City.

She also led a movement in Mindanao against former president Ferdinand Marcos in the 1980s.

Duterte was known to be close to his mother and frequently mentioned her in his speeches.

He usually visits his parents’ tomb on All Saints’ Day and other occasions. (PNA)
