Duterte warns to impose martial law against rebellion

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte answers queries from members of the media during his visit at the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City on September 9, 2017.

President Rodrigo Duterte on his visit to wounded-in-action soldiers (WIA) at the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital (CESH) in Cagayan de Oro City last Saturday, warned that he will not hesitate to impose martial law throughout the country if communist rebels will make a mistake of staging rebellion.

“Do not commit a mistake. Ako hindi ako nananakot. Do not commit a mistake of staging a rebellion, ‘yong sabihin mo na this is fighting with the states, I will not hesitate to impose martial law all throughout the country, an order of arrest of everybody,” he answered to one of the questions he was asked.

He also allowed the communist insurgents and fronts to do the meetings in public, but do not try to commit any mistake of rebellion.

Duterte would not want to be engaged in killings and would tell the police and armed forces to stay in station and barracks despite demonstration in streets, but he will arrest communist rebels if violation was initiated.

“Ayaw kong makipagpatayan, but if you do that I will arrest all of you. All of you,” he emphasized. “You can demonstrate sa streets in the coming days, I am ordering the military to stay in the barracks, but be prepared… for war.  Ang pulis, ang sabi ko sa istasyon lang kayo, we just assign traffic policemen.”

Furthermore, Duterte is prepared in any overt act of destroying the government.

“I am prepared, I do not expect anything, but I am prepared for everything.”
