ECC launches TV ad, hosts DevComNet assembly

MANILA — The Employee’s Compensation Commission (ECC) launched on Monday its television commercial at the Development Communication Coordinating Network’s (DevComNet) first assembly for the year.

DevComNet is an information exchange network of the different information units from government agencies and departments, and corporation and financial institutions – controlled and owned by the government.

ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis said the television commercial, which they co-produced Philippine Information Agency (PIA), will air this March in line with their campaign to empower communities nationwide.

ECC hosted the assembly at the Novotel Manila to launch the TV ad.

The TV commercial shows the testimonies of two workers who were assisted by ECC when they figured in an accident at their workplace. The ECC provided both differently-abled workers with monthly pensions, free physical therapy sessions, livelihood training and a business starter kit which range from PHP20,000 to PHP30,000.

At the assembly, Banawis presented an overview of the Employee’s Compensation Program.

PIA Director-General Harold Clavite and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Undersecretary and concurrent ECC Chairman-Designate Ciriaco Lagunzad III gave their respective presentations.

Clavite discussed the overview of the Government Information Center and Information Volunteer’s Week while Lagunzad delivered the keynote message for the assembly.

In an interview with reporters after the event, Banawis said ECC and DOLE are doing their best to help the victims of the recent fire incidents.

“We provide funeral benefits which is now PHP30,000 na po dati, PHP20,000 lang… Aside from that meron po silang EC pension na makukuha, since they are private sector workers lahat ito ay ina-apply sa SSS which is our…program for the private sectors basta po meron po siyang employer-employee relationship, siya po ay isang EC member (We provide funeral benefits which is now PHP30,000, before, PHP20,000 only… Aside from that, they will get an EC pension, since they are private sector workers all these are applied through SSS which is our…program for the private sectors… As long as the victim has employer-employee relationship, he/she is an EC member),” Banawis said.

“I will have to check kung nakapunta na sa victims ng sunog ang tulong, pero yun po and SOP namin. Hindi lang po ang ECC ang kumikilos kundi ang buong DOLE team po sa ganung pangayari (I will have to check if the help has reached the fire victims, but that is our SOP. It’s not only ECC that’s working but the whole DOLE team, during incidents like that),” she added. (PNA)
