ECC waits for SSS study on increasing workers’ benefit

The Employees Compensation Commission is waiting for the study conducted by the Social Security System (SSS) on the proposal of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to increase the benefits being received by workers from ₱10,000 to ₱50,000.

In a public briefing, ECC Executive Director Stella Zipagan-Banawis stated that they have requested the SSS to look into the recommendation of the DOLE. The benefits provided by the commission need to undergo thorough study to preserve the fund.

Banawis also reported that around 1,000 workers have applied for the COVID-19 employees compensation benefits. They have 3 three years to apply for the compensation. – PTV News
