ECQ imposed on Iloilo Province, 3 other areas until July 31

The government on Friday (July 16) escalated the quarantine classifications of Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, Cagayan de Oro, and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until the end of July.

The ECQ implementation in Iloilo City and Province will begin on July 22, while the ECQ in Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog City began today.

The government also extended the general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions in Antique from July 22 to July 31. The government also escalated Misamis Oriental’s classification from modified GCQ (MGCQ) to GCQ until month’s end.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the new policies were based on the recommendation of the Department of Health (DOH), its Technical Advisory Group (TAG), and the Technical Working Group (TWG) on COVID-19 Variants.

The government initially announced on July 15 the imposition of modified ECQ (MECQ) on nine areas in the country, including Iloilo City. However, Roque said the decision was subject to change depending on the situation.

“Kung hindi mag-improve ang ating mga numero ay posible po na mabago muli ang classification ng Iloilo City at Iloilo,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said. (OPS)/AG- jlo
