Efforts to weed out ‘narco-cops’ ongoing: Dela Rosa

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is doing everything in its authority to reduce, if not eliminate, the number of police officers involved in the illegal narcotics trade.

This was stressed by PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa during an ambush interview in Camp Crame, Quezon City Monday.

And while the problem is difficult to resolve, he said that they are doing their best to resolve the issue head-on.

This is proven by operations conducted by the Counter-Intelligence Task Force against rogue police officers everynow and then.

“At least ‘di tayo nagbibingi-bingihan (we are not acting deaf), we address the problem head-on,” the PNP chief stressed.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte said around 9,000 police officers are implicated in the illegal drugs trade.

Dela Rosa said the Chief Executive based this “compilation” from figures coming the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation, Armed Forces of the Philippines, civilian intelligence and other government agencies. (PNA)
