Election period for BSKE, gun ban begin

The Election Period for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and the ban on bearing, carrying, or transporting firearms began on Monday, Aug. 28.

The filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for BSKE also started on Monday.

Comelec will accept COCs until Sept. 2.

There are 42,027 total number of positions available for punong barangays; 294,189 members of the Sangguniang Barangay; 42,027 SK chairperson; and 294,189 members of SK.

The campaign period will run from Oct. 19 to 28.

Meanwhile, the gun ban will remain until Nov. 29, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

This also covers bearing, carrying, and transporting other deadly weapons.

Comelec checkpoints will also be in place nationwide by the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine Coast Guard.
