Erice wants EDSA transformed into mass transport highway

Caloocan City Second District Representative Edgar Erice seeks the temporary prohibition of private vehicles on EDSA during peako hours.

The move intends to ease up the traffic jam on the road in preparation for the Southeast Asian Games scheduled on 30 November to 11 December 2019 and Christmas rush. Consequently, public utility vehicles will have the sole right to traverse the main thoroughfareso during the periods mentioned.

“The only immediate, temporary solution without the need for infrastructure, is by transforming EDSA into a mass transport highway from 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., banning private vehicles from EDSA during the said period, and only buses and UVs shall be allowed to use EDSA,” elucidates Erice.

Marikina First District Representative Bayani Fernando adheres to the proposal but calls for a prior study on the matter.

“Baka magulat tayo. Baka mamaya e napuno rin ang EDSA, puro PUV. Hindi rin makatakbo. O baka naman sumobra and luwag,” Fernando enlightens.
