Espenido’s assignment in Iloilo City cancelled

ILOILO CITY — Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido’s reassignment in Iloilo City has been cancelled, the Western Visayas police chief announced here Saturday.

In a press conference, Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Western Visayas, said it was “the decision of the national headquarters.”

He said they have received a directive from the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, — special order 9013 dated September 1, cancelling Espenido’s reassignment to Iloilo City.

Espenido will retain his current post as Ozamiz City police chief.

With the cancellation of Espenido’s assignment, Binag also announced that Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, former director of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), will serve as Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director by virtue of Special Order 9011, also dated September 1.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Duerte has ordered Espenido to be transferred to Iloilo City, the place he repeatedly tagged as the “most shabulized” and “bedrock of illegal drugs.” (PNA)
