Esperon: Task Force on WPS to study proposed joint patrol with Vietnam, Malaysia

National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon said the National Task Force on West Philippine Sea will consider the proposed joint patrol of countries surrounding the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio earlier suggested the country to conduct joint patrol with Vietnam and Malaysia in the disputed territories to show objection on the activities of China in the area.

Esperon clarified the joint patrol will only be conducted to strengthen the ties with neighboring country. The security adviser said the country recognizes Carpio in the field of justice but he should let the defense department address China on matters concerning the territory. – Report from Bea Bernardo
