Ex-cop charged with murder nabbed in Batangas City

CAMP GEN. MALVAR, Batangas City — A former member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) charged with murder was arrested by authorities as he was being served a warrant of arrest in Barangay Libjo, Batangas City on Tuesday.

Arrested was Mark Anthony Sarmiento Bugayong, a policeman-turned-member of a criminal group, Batangas City police chief, Supt. Sancho O. Celedio, said in his report to Senior Supt. Edwin Aguilan Quilates, Batangas police director.

Bugayong was apprehended at about 11:45 a.m. without any resistance.

His alias warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Conrado R. Antona of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 4 of Batangas City for murder under criminal case (CC) no. 13050, and malversation of public property under CC No. 14502 issued by Judge Paterno V. Tac-an of RTC Branch 84, also in this city.
