Ex-SolGen Mendoza seeks inclusion in Anti-Terror Law legal battle

Former Solicitor General Estelito Mendoza has requested the Supreme Court (SC) to allow his participation in the legal challenge concerning the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.

Mendoza asked in his petition before the High Court to be an amicus curiae (friend of court) or a resource person of the case. Based on the rules of court, experienced lawyers may be invited as resource persons to assist in resolving issues submitted before the court.

Mendoza also recommended to dismiss the petitions against the Anti-Terror Law due to lack of jurisdiction since petitioners failed to show possible violations of the law which may be used a basis for an actual controversy.

The High Court is set to conduct oral arguments on the Anti-Terror Law. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
