President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano as the new General Manager of state-run People’s Television Network (PTV-4).
In a statement Wednesday, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez confirmed Cayetano’s appointment.
“Former Mayor Cayetano brings with him a rare wealth of experience from the media, private, and the public sectors that would certainly take PTV-4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multi-media landscape,” Gomez said.
GM Lino, the younger brother of Senators Pia and Alan Peter Cayetano, served as mayor of Taguig from 2019 to 2022 and Taguig City 2nd District representative from 2013 to 2016.
He is also a respected figure in the Philippine entertainment industry with his extensive experience in directing and producing.
Cayetano succeeds outgoing PTV chief Maria Lourdes Choa-Fagar, who was appointed as acting general manager in August 2025.
In a statement, Choa-Fagar welcomed Cayetano’s appointment as the new head of the state-run television network, noting that his background in public service, broadcast, and entertainment “makes him a highly capable leader to steer PTV into its next chapter.”
“I am confident that his creative vision and executive experience will bring fresh perspectives and dynamic growth to the Network,” she said.
She likewise assured that the current PTV management is fully committed to ensuring a “seamless, transparent, and highly supportive transition,” ensuring that public service delivery remains uninterrupted.
“I offer my full support to Mr. Cayetano as he takes the helm, and I call upon the entire workforce to extend to him the same unwavering cooperation and hard work you have shown me,” Choa-Fagar said. (with report from Kenneth Paciente / PTV News)
