Explosive all-Filipino showdown set for ONE X event in March

Top Filipino strawweights Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang and Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado are set to collide in the Circle at ONE X on Mar. 26.

ONE Championship officially confirmed the fight on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

ONE X is ONE Championship’s highly anticipated 10th-anniversary event, celebrating more than a decade of world-class martial arts action. It will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in front of a capacity crowd for the very first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adiwang and Miado are in similar junctures in their young careers.

The 28-year-old “Thunder Kid” of the famed Team Lakay of Baguio City found himself twice in the top five at strawweight, only to be met with resistance, as he suffered heartbreaking losses to Hiroba Minowa, and most recently, Jarred Brooks. He has, however, won four of his last six and remains one of the most dangerous and explosive fighters in the division.

Miado, on the other hand, is coming off two scintillating knockout victories over China’s Miao Li Tao. “The Jaguar” showcased his much improved striking and overall game in his most recent outing, which he owes to having moved his training camp to Marrok Force in Bangkok, Thailand.

Adiwang is 13-4 with 7 knockouts and 4 submissions to his name, while Miado is 10-4 with 5 knockouts and 1 submission. That makes this fight relatively even on paper, and it could come down to who strikes the hardest first.

The Adiwang vs. Miado bout is a rare Filipino-against-Filipino showdown of epic proportions, but it isn’t the first in this regard. There have been other epic all-Filipino fights under the ONE Championship banner, most notably 2019’s Joshua Pacio vs. Rene Catalan strawweight World Title bout, and 2013’s Honorio Banario vs. Eric Kelly featherweight World Title showdown.

ONE Championship is stacking their ONE X card from top to bottom, so much so that they’ve decided to split it up into two major events happening on the same day.

Among the confirmed bouts includes the highly anticipated rematch between no.2-ranked atomweight Denice “Lycan Queen” Zamboanga of the Philippines and no. 3-ranked Ham Seo Hee of South Korea.

Zamboanga and Ham battled to a controversial split decision at ONE: EMPOWER last September 2021, with the dangerous South Korean just edging out the Filipina fighter on the scorecards, despite many fans and experts believing Zamboanga had done enough to win

Also at ONE X is the much-talked-about Special Rules Super-Fight between mixed martial arts legend Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

In the main event, reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee defends her World Title against ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Champion and top-ranked contender Stamp Fairtex. (ONE Championship) – bny
