Fair weather, isolated rain showers to prevail over most of PH

MANILA – Fair weather with isolated rains will prevail over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Friday (Jan. 28).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the shear line affecting northern Luzon will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.

“There will be light to moderate, with at times heavy rains, so take precautions against flooding and landslides,” PAGASA weather forecaster Benison Estareja said.

He added that the shear line is forecast to bring rains over most of northern Luzon until the weekend.

For the rest of Luzon, warm and humid weather will be experienced. “There are chances of rains due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening,” he said.

The Visayas will have fair weather, while Mindanao will have sunny weather until noon. Estareja said a large portion of Mindanao may experience rains in the afternoon and thunderstorms at night.

No weather disturbance is expected until the end of January.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern Luzon.

Because of the northeast monsoon, moderate to gale-force winds will be experienced over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon.

Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)    -ag
