MANILA – Fair weather will prevail over most parts of the country, but rain showers are still likely due to thunderstorms, the weather bureau said Wednesday, May 18.
The frontal system affecting extreme northern Luzon will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos Norte, said Grace Castañeda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The rest of Luzon will be warm, especially at noon. Rains due to thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon or evening.
Temperatures could reach 35°C in Tuguegarao; 33°C in Laoag, Metro Manila, and Legazpi; and 32°C in Puerto Princesa and Kalayaan Islands.
The Visayas and Mindanao will also have fair weather, with chances of rains caused by localized thunderstorms.
Temperatures could rise to 33°C in Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Zamboanga, and Davao; and 31°C in Cagayan de Oro.
No weather disturbance was seen to affect the country.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over extreme northern Luzon.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. – gb
