Fake NBI Agent, 2 cohorts arrested in Pateros

A person posing as an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and two others were arrested in Pateros on Friday around 11:20PM.

The fake agent was identified as Mark Anthony Wright while his cohorts were identified as Abraham Itchon, a driver, and Michael Pracey Cruz, a student.

According to the Pateros police, they were informed by personnel of Barangay Santo Rosario-Silangan about individuals with a firearm of unknown caliber who were roaming in the area aboard a car with no plate number. This compelled the police personnel of Sub-Station 3 to verify the report.

Upon checking the area, the suspect presented himself as an NBI agent and presented an I.D. He was soon arrested along with the other passengers of the car after the police found out he was not a real NBI agent.

A .45 caliber pistol along with two magazines loaded with bullets were seized from Wright, while another loaded gun was recovered from Itchon.

Cruz was caught with drug paraphernalia including a medium sized sachet that contains 2.5 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves with a value of Php300 and a glass tube pipe with marijuana residue in his possession.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition and Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act. Wright will face additional case for Usurpation of Authority. — Bernard Jaudian
