Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 abroad reach 11.2-K

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) this week recorded 84 new COVID-19 survivors, jacking up the total number of Filipino recoveries abroad to 11,274.

In its latest case bulletin, the agency said the total active cases are at 5,959 while the death toll is at 1,147.

From April 25 to May 1, it recorded 131 new infections and 21 new fatalities.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries and those undergoing treatment saw a slight decrease to 61.34% and 32.42%, respectively. Meanwhile, fatalities increased to 6.24%,” the DFA said.

The Middle East/Africa region has the highest number of active cases at 3,804, followed by the Asia Pacific region with 1,114, Europe with 927, and the Americas with 114.

Since the pandemic started, a total of 747 deaths were reported in the Middle East/Africa region, 241 in the Americas, 130 in Europe, and 29 in the Asia Pacific.

Of the recoveries, the Middle East/Africa region still has the highest with 5,902, followed by the Asia Pacific with 2,448, Europe with 2,299, and the Americas with 625. (PNA)
