More than 50 firetrucks and volunteers responded to a fire that broke out in a former bus terminal at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 9.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire was reported at 4:46 p.m., with the alarm immediately raised to first level. The fire reached Task Force Bravo around 5:08 p.m.

The fire spread to the area of the “Christmas on Display” located near the old terminal.
Firefighters were still trying to put the fire out at 7:00 p.m.

No vehicles were inside the old terminal, but one firefighter was injured.

The BFP is still verifying the information that the fire started from a temperature device that had a short circuit.

The BFP said the fire started at the mezzanine part of the building.

“We have to confirm. i-confirm pa rin ang initial information natin. So mangongolekta tayo ng statements sa mga security guard sa ibang personalidad na makikita natin sa nakakita ng sunog,” Fire Senior Superintendent Aristotle Baña said. – Report from Karen Villanda/KC-ag
