Fire hits construction site in Taguig

Authorities reported a fire at a construction site in Taguig on Wednesday night (Aug.10).

In an interview with DZBB, Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano said the initial report was that a gas pipe was hit by a drill, triggering the explosion. He clarified that the fire was not caused by a gas leak nor an explosion.

“So habang mag nagdi-drill, mukhang may tinamaan, may naamoy. And then later on po noong lumapit ang isang safety officer, doon nangyari ang explosion,” he said.

The city mayor said one person was injured in the incident and immediately brought to a hospital for medical attention.

He added that there was no need to evacuate those living in residential buildings in the area.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) announced past 9:00 p.m. that  the fire incident was already under control. – jlo
