Fire hits parts of PGH and Megamall; no casualties reported

A blaze erupted at the Philippine General Hospital’s (PGH) third floor on early Sunday (May 16) around 1:00 a.m., according to a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). 

The BFP Manila reported that the fire originated at the rear-right portion of the Operating Room – Sanitization Area (ORSA) of the hospital’s third floor with an estimated cost of damage at ₱300,000; zero casualties and injuries were also reported.

The fire was under control at 2:46 a.m. and the area was declared fire out at 5:41 a.m.

BFP Manila said that a total of 15 fire trucks responded to the scene along with eight ambulances.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.

Sta. Ana Hospital received 12 patients from the neonatal intensive care units, while Ospital ng Maynila admitted two patients needing appendectomy, said Manila Public Information Office.

A fire also hit a building under construction at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City early Sunday (May 16) morning. 

The BFP-Mandaluyong City said the fire started at 3:36 a.m. and was put out at 3:55 a.m.

The fire engulfed between the sixth and seventh floors of Building C canopy, where employees of call center Concentrix are located.

No casualties were reported in the incident. – rir
