Last November 25, a namesake of popular South Korean actor Lee Min-Ho was apprehended in an operation conducted by Bureau of Immigration (BI) fugitive search unit (FSU) agents inside the Clark Freeport Zone.

The arrest was conducted following a tip received by the BI from South Korean authorities indicating that Lee is wanted in his home country for a crime he committed five years ago.

Lee, 37, allegedly conspired with other suspects in using a baseball bat to inflict serious physical injuries on a victim which resulted in the latter’s hospital confinement for several days.

A warrant of arrest was issued against him by the Suwon District Court in February 2024 for Special Bodily Injury. Likewise, he is also the subject of an Interpol ‘Red Notice’ issued in October 2024.

Meanwhile, the BI also reported the arrest of 4 other fugitives last week.

On Nov. 26, BI-FSU agents arrested Shalabi Nidal Mohd Suleiman, 53, a Jordanian national in Lupon, Davao Oriental City.

The Jordanian was an overstaying alien who is wanted in Dubai for theft after he allegedly stole money amounting to over EUR 110,000 and AED 200,000 from his former employer.

On Nov. 27, Chinese fugitive Wei Xiaofeng, 28, was apprehended by authorities. He is wanted for illegally using equipment to invade the privacy of his victims.

Wei is accused of creating a Telegram account used to distribute videos illicitly recorded using hidden cameras installed in hotel establishments, capturing individuals without their knowledge or consent.

Lastly, arrested in Pasay City last Nov. 29 were Taiwanese nationals Chen Chiyin, 32, and Huang Chunfu, 31, who were wanted for fraud in Taiwan.

They were accused of being members of the notorious Bamboo Triad syndicate involved in large-scale firearms and drug smuggling operations. (with report from Louisa Erispe/PTV News)
