Flower vendors in Bacolod get special permits for ‘Undas’

BACOLOD  CITY – About 290 flower vendors here have secured special permits to sell in designated areas starting Monday for the observance of the  All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Nov. 1 and 2.

Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, said they issued special permits for a fee of PHP400.

The amount includes PHP200 for special permit, PHP100 for business tax, and PHP100 for garbage fees.

Areas where vendors can display their floral goods until Nov. 2 include Bacolod public plaza, Libertad Market, Mabini Street, and Burgos Market.

Pineda said task force personnel will be deployed to inspect the flower stalls.

Owners of kiosks along Burgos public cemetery were also required to obtain a special permit, he added.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier formed the Task Force All Saints’ Day to monitor and assist in the implementation and regulation of public markets, plaza and cemeteries for the November 1 and 2 observance.

In a memorandum, the mayor directed Pineda to coordinate with the Bacolod City Police Office and ensure that all corresponding permits, licenses, and collection of special fees are duly applied and paid for.

The city’s Department of Public Services is tasked to maintain cleanliness and collection of garbage during and after of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, Pineda said. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
