MANILA — Commuters using the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) may avail of free shuttle services, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the DOTr said three buses from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have been offering free rides from the Mall of Asia in Pasay City to the PITX in Parañaque City since last year.

The shuttle buses transfer commuters from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Aside from PCG and MMDA, the Junior Chamber International Senate Philippines (JCISP) will also provide two buses traversing the PITX-Lawton (Liwasang Bonifacio) route and another unit for PITX-Baclaran lane starting February 14.

The JCISP shuttle service plans to operate beginning at 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

“Through the cooperation of DOTr with other government agencies and private sector, an alternative transportation mode is being offered to commuters going to and from PITX,” the DOTr statement read.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte spearheaded the inauguration of the PITX, the country’s first integrated and multi-modal terminal, on November 5 last year.

It serves as a transfer point for provincial buses from Cavite, Batangas, and in-city modes of transportation, providing efficient and seamless travel for commuters.

Duterte said PITX terminal is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to construct much-needed infrastructure under the “Build, Build, Build” program to sustain economic development throughout the country.
