Fully vaccinated Filipinos vs. COVID-19 hit 5-M

More than five million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of July 21.

In a public briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced that 5,231,469 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered as second doses with a coverage ratio of 15.32%.

Moreover, 10,722,442 vials were administered as first doses with a coverage ratio of 7.47%..He added that the daily jabs have reached 337,349.

As of July 21, the national vaccination program has administered a total of 15,953,911 doses.

Meanwhile, an expert asserted that getting inoculated against the virus is still the best step against the highly infectious Delta variant following reports of local cases in the country.

According to vaccine expert panel member Dr. Rontgene Solante, the risk of getting infected with COVID-19 or having severe symptoms from the disease is low for fully vaccinated individuals.

“The data gathered from different countries where surges are being documented, most of those cases are those cases not vaccinated,” Solante asserted.
