INDANG, Cavite – A furniture maker was arrested on Tuesday during a follow-up operation by the town police operatives here over a shooting incident in the outskirt of Alulod village in this town.
Chief Inspector Willy B. Salazar, Indang police chief, identified the suspect as 42-year-old furniture maker Alex Astillero whom witnesses tagged as the triggerman who killed Brendo Hapa Ersando and wounded Charlene Antiejo Pilapil.
Salazar said that the lawmen conducting their follow-up operation did not find the weapon used by the suspect who is now under custody by the Indang police station for investigation and proper disposition.
He said that they are still probing the motive behind the killing.
According to Salazar, the town’s police investigators rushed to the site and saw the victim Charlene coming out of the nipa hut, limping as she sought help after a bullet grazed her left knee.
The investigators also found inside the hut the lifeless body of victim Ersando in a pool of blood with several gunshot wounds.
Investigations disclosed that the two victims were seated side-by-side while having a conversation inside the hut around 8:30 p.m. on Monday when the suspect barged in and peppered them with bullets and then escaped.
The wounded Charlene was rushed to the General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital for medical treatment.
