MANILA — Malacañang on Monday welcomed research firm Gallup’s 2018 Global Law and Order report which showed that the Philippines maintained its ranking in the 82nd spot.
According to its website, the Global Law and Order report measures how secure or insecure people feel in their neighborhood and how confident they are in their local police.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the report confirms that Filipinos feel “safer” in their respective communities.
“Sang-ayon po sa Gallup report – sang-ayon po ito sa data na kinolekta sa mga 148,000 responses sa 142 countries – ay ang ating mga mamamayan daw po ngayon ay feeling ligtas kapag sila ay naglalakad na mag-iisa sa gabi ‘no, sa iba’t ibang ating mga syudad at lugar ‘no(According to the Gallup report, according to data collected from 148,000 responses in 142 countries-our citizens feel safer when they walk in the streets at night),” Roque said.
“Ang Pilipinas po ay nakakuha ng score ng 82, ito po ay up from 76 in 2014 (The Philippines got a score of 82, which is up from 76 in 2014), at this is above the average of 72 for East Asia,” he added.
Roque pointed out that the report also showed that the Duterte administration’s campaign against criminality has improved the public perception of safety.
“So sang-ayon po sa Gallup, itong ating kampanya laban sa kriminalidad nagreresulta po sa persepyon ng ating taong bayan na ligtas sila kapag sila ay naglalakad ng nag-iisa kapag gabi (So, according to Gallup, our campaign against crime has resulted in a change in perception of our citizens that they are safe when they walk the streets at night),” he reiterated.
