Gambala quits BOC post

MANILA — Bureau of Customs Deputy Commissioner and Management Information Systems and Technology Group (MISTG) head Gerardo Gambala has resigned from his post.

This was confirmed by Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña on Tuesday.

“Si Gambala, has tendered his irrevocable resignation. I received it I think a month ago,” he said.

The BOC chief noted that Gambala cited personal reasons for quitting his post.

“Ang nasabi sa akin because (of) his family. Para maka-attend sa kanyang family but that is also what he stated sa letter of resignation (I was told it is because of his family. So that he can attend to his family but that is also what he stated in his letter of resignation),” he added.

Gambala was among those summoned during the congressional inquiry on the controversial PHP6.4-billion shabu shipment which passed undetected through Customs.

He, together with several others, were appointed by former BOC Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon to high-ranking positions in the bureau.

They are former Intelligence, Investigation Service Director Neil Anthony Estrella former; former Import Assessment Director Milo Maestrecampo; Deputy Commissioner Natalio Ecarma III and Legal Division Dir. Alvin Ebreo.

Faeldon, Estrella and Maestrecampo have resigned from their positions. (PNA)
