MANILA—Typhoon “Gardo” (international name Maria) is out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but some parts of the country will continue to experience rains due to the prevailing southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

In its 24-hour forecast, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon will dump rains in the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon and western Visayas.

Light to moderate rains may be expected over Metro Manila, Bicol region, Zamboanga Peninsula, ARMM, Pangasinan, Marinduque, and the rest of Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

As of 4 a.m., “Gardo” was last observed 650 kilometers north of extreme northern Luzon with maximum winds of 160 kph near the center, gustiness up to 195 kph and moving west to northwest at 35 kph.

Temperature in Metro Manila will range from 24-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-35 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-24 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-33 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 26-33 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
