Gasoline prices are set to go up again on Tuesday, as local oil firms implement weekly price adjustments to immediately reflect changes in world crude prices.
This time however, there will be no change in the prices of diesel.
In an advisory, the management of PTT Philippines announced a PHP0.90 per liter hike in the price of its gasoline products, effective 6 a.m., March 12.
Other oil companies are expected to announce similar price adjustments on their gasoline products within the day.
An increase in the price of gasoline is expected to affect mainly private motorists. Diesel, on the other hand, is widely considered to be more politically sensitive as it fuels public transportation.
Meantime, the uptick in global prices of petroleum is still being driven by the continued efforts of Oil Producing and Exporting Countries to put a cap on production in order to raise prices.
