GCQ in NCR extended, 9 areas under MECQ

The government on Thursday (July 15) extended the implementation of general community quarantine (GCQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) until July 31, and imposed modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in nine areas. 

President Duterte also approved MECQ implementation in Bataan, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, and Davao del Norte, and Butuan City from July 16 to July 31. Iloilo and Iloilo City are also placed under MECQ until July 22. 

“Kung hindi mag-improve ang ating mga numero ay posible po na mabago muli ang classification ng Iloilo City at Iloilo,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during his announcement.

The government also placed under GCQ until month’s end Baguio City, Apayao, Santiago City, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Quezon, Batangas, Puerto Princesa, Guimaras, Negros Occidental, Zamboanga Sibugay, City of Zamboanga and Zamboanga del Norte, Davao Oriental, General Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Cotabato, South Cotabato, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Sur, and Cotabato City.

Areas under GCQ “with heightened restrictions” until July 31 are Cagayan, Laguna, Lucena City, Naga City, Negros Oriental, Zamboanga del Sur, and Davao City. Aklan, Bacolod City, Antique, and Capiz are placed under the same classification until July 22. 

The rest of the country will remain under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ). (OPS)/AG-rir
