General Trias City bags environmental award from DILG

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – The city has bagged a “Bronze Award” from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Calabarzon for its outstanding performance and highly commendable practices in Solid Waste Management.

The Bronze Award was given during the 4th Environmental Compliance Audit (ECA) at Chateau Royale Hotel Resort Spa, Nasugbu, Batangas on Monday.

City officials, led by Mayor Antonio A. Ferrer and vice-mayor Maurito ‘Morit’ Sison, welcomed the award and vowed to continuously improve their effective systems.

“This recognition will definitely motivate us further to ensure that our city is not just consistent but will continuously search for ways to improve our current system, to maintain our compliance to environmental laws,” Ferrer said.

The ECA Awards is part of the DILG’s Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP) aimed to monitor implementation and compliance of cities, municipalities, and barangays to Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and taking into consideration the local initiatives and innovations in environmental preservation.

The ECA Awards is also in celebration of the Manila Bay Day.
