George Garcia is the new Comelec chair

 

Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner George Erwin Garcia has been appointed as the chairperson of the poll body.

He will serve until Feb. 2, 2029, taking the place of fellow lawyer Saidamen Pangarungan.

He was picked by former President Rodrigo Duterte as commissioner in March 22, and also served as a lawyer of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in an electoral protest in 2016 against former Vice President Leni Robredo.  – Lynroe Francisco-ag
