So said Gilas main big-man Junemar Fajardo as he cleared his current condition after sustaining a strained calf injury in San Miguel Beermen’s 97-91 win against Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters last Wednesday.

“Masakit kasi ngayon e. One week daw pahinga tapos therapy. Hindi ko pa alam. Masakit, lalo na pag aakyat ng hagdan,” Fajardo stated on an interview with PBA press corps.

“Depende pa, tingnan natin progress pero syempre diba, future din baka lumala yung injury kaya mahirap,” he added.

Fajardo is included in the Gilas Pilipinas final 12 players who are bound to participate in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup on August 8-20 in Beirut, Lebanon.

After losing the Gilas primary reinforcement Andray Blatche, Fajardo is expected to lead the team’s frontliners facing the giants of other Asian teams, especially against their first assignment which will be the powerhouse Chinese squad.

However, he cleared that if he gets better, he is still willing to participate and continue his FIBA Asia Cup stint. “Syempre sasama pa rin ako at kung okay pakiramdam ko, lalaro ako.”

“Syempre, gusto kong maglaro,” he said, showing his eagerness to play for the country. | Tretch Melarpes – PTV
