Go calls for intensified drive vs. illegal drugs in Guimaras

MANILA — Former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go on Sunday said he will personally relay to President Rodrigo Duterte reports that Guimaras is being used as transshipment point of illegal drugs, and will appeal to law enforcement agencies to intensify the war against drugs in the province.

Nabalitaan kong may mga reports na ganoon ipaparating ko ito sa ating Pangulo (I’ve heard about these reports. I will relay it to the President),” Go said in a media interview during the groundbreaking of Buenaventura wharf in Brgy. Sto. Domingo, Buenaventura, Guimaras.

Go said he will appeal to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to intensify their campaign against illegal drugs in Guimaras province.

Yung kampanya ni Pangulong Duterte ay tuloy-tuloy po ‘yan. Wala pong compromise ‘yan (The campaign of the President will continue. There is no compromise),” Go said.

He appealed to drug dependents to stop using illegal drugs as it will ruin their lives and their families.

Go led the groundbreaking of Buenaventura, a national government project which is expected to boost the economy of Guimaras.

Masaya po ako para sa mga taga Guimaras na nagkaroon din sila ng mga proyekto dito (I’m happy for the people of Guimaras that you have this kind of project),” he said.

Go said the people of Guimaras will also benefit from Iloilo-Guimaras bridge, another national project to be funded by China.

Nasa working process na po sa ngayon ito at sana po matapos ito bago matapos ang termino ni Pangulong Duterte. Makakatulong talaga ito sa transportation dito sa Guimaras (It’s now in the working process and hopefully it will be finished before the term of President Duterte ends. It will really help the transportation here in Guimaras),” Go said.

Last month, Go filed his certificate of candidacy for senator, promising to pursue projects that would open more opportunities in different areas of the country including Guimaras.

Ako ang magiging tulay ninyo sa Pangulo at the same time sisiguraduhin ko kung ano ang makakabuti para sa Guimaras tulad ngayon mayroong proyekto sa national government. Tuloy-tuloy po ang suporta natin sa taga Guimaras (I will be your link to the President and at the same time, I will support whatever project like this one from the national government. Our support for Guimaras will continue),” he said.

While waiting for the official kick off of the election campaign for 2019 midterm polls, Go said he has been helping the President in his private capacity.

“I keep myself busy by still helping the President,” he said. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
