‘Good’ voters’ turnout in village, youth polls: Comelec

MANILA — Commission on Elections (Comelec) acting chairman Al Parreño on Monday said there was a “good” voters’ turnout in the just concluded May 14 Barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) polls.

Parreño noted that they cannot give specific details as to those who participated in the elections as they are still verifying data from the field.

“We cannot give exact figures yet as reports from our field personnel are still coming in,” he said.

Parreño also reported that all polling precincts have closed except for one precinct in Northern Samar.

“We are still validating reports,” he said.

Earlier, the Comelec official reported that all polling precincts have opened on election day.

No untoward incidents were reported, declaring the conduct of the polls as generally peaceful, according to the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The country has over 57 million registered voters for the May 14 polls. (PNA)
